| 1967 |
Chicago
Rental Center was purchased by Donald & Dennis Bandauski and was a
neighborhood general tool rental store that also had chairs and tables. |
| 1981 |
The two brothers purchased Orland Park Rental in that same town, renting tools, party supplies and trucks. |
| 1986 |
One
dozen new portable toilets were added along with a used pumper truck.
The thought at the time was to broaden the rental inventory and offer
the party planners an additional item to rent. |
| 1987 |
Dave
Bandauski joined the force and became the toilet operations manager.
With Dave heading the toilet rentals, this part of the business soon
began to grow to 100 toilets and the new company PORTABLE JOHN came to
being. |
| 1988 |
This
new company needed some more space and Don Bandauski found a 10 acre
farm just south of the Orland Park store. The new location known as
"The Farm" soon began to add inventory and employees as well as brother
number four, Dale Bandauski. |
| 1989 |
The
City of Chicago’s office of special events called to offer PORTABLE
JOHN a three-year city contract that included all city work plus the
special events, which included the famous "Taste of Chicago." An order
was placed for 700 new toilets just for the 10 day "Taste". |
| 1991 |
The University of Chicago's Modern Art Museum exhibited a section featuring a good number of PORTABLE JOHNS as modern art. |
| 1992 |
The
Chicago River opened up and flooded a large portion of the downtown
area. PORTABLE JOHNS were now everywhere including each floor of City
Hall as the city's water supply was shut off. |
| 1994 |
"The
Farm" was sold and the firm moved to Homer Glen,
Illinois. This was the new home of "Orland Rental West" (store #3) as
well as the PORTABLE JOHN yard and offices. |
| 1997 |
The three rental stores were sold, but PORTABLE JOHN kept their yard and office in location number three. |
1998
|
Dave Bandauski branched off from Portable John and started his new journey into the Restroom Trailer Industry.
|
1999
|

Dave Bandauski was the motivating force behind much of Portable
John and Portable Services early success. One of the reasons Portable John
is the leader in Chicagoland is because of the contributions he has given to
the company and all of our employees. Constant efficiencies and improvements
are made on a daily basis as a result of his teachings, even after he has
left us.
